A crowd of over 250 participated in The Arc, Upper Valley’s 6th Annual Buddy Walk at the Grand Cities Mall on September 30th.
Participants came from as far away as Devils Lake and Fargo to promote awareness and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to raise funds for education, research and advocacy programs.
An exciting addition to the event this year was the display booths of various businesses and organizations. Booth displays included: Little Miracles, Development Homes, The Arc Headwaters, Ali’s Boundless Playground, Backpacks for Brilliance and Vocational Rehabilitation & Consulting Services.
The event raised over $3,500 Thirty percent of the money will go to the National Down Syndrome Society and the remianing seventy percent will used to fund local educational opportunities and to assist families who wish to attend the National Down Syndrome Congress Convention in 2008.
Special thanks to the Grand Cities Mall for hosting the event and to PS Doors for their generous donation of insulated coffee mugs for all the registered walkers.
Refreshments were provided by Premium Waters, Valley Dairy and GFG Foodservice.
Over 75 door prizes were donated by area businesses.
